Agricultural Reed Beds

The Northern Ireland Reed Bed Company can design and install reed bed systems for the treatment of dirty water on your farm. This includes parlour washings and yard runoff.

Under legislation brought in with the Nitrates Directive, you will no longer be allowed to discharge untreated water to rivers and streams, and your Single Farm Payment may be affected if you pollute.

There are various alternatives for disposing of dirty water. A reed bed can bring specific benefits to the farmer, including savings in contractors’ and equipment costs.

Once the reed bed is installed, the system:
